Proverbs 24:10
“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”
(Proverbs 24:10)
I never imagined that the evil day would arrive so quietly — and at the same time, so violently.
One day, I decided to start water aerobics. It seemed like a simple and healthy decision, without any risk. Everything appeared to be going well. The environment was pleasant, people were motivated. What I didn’t realize was one important detail:
I was joining a group of people who had been doing that activity for many years.
I was the newcomer.
Just another ordinary day… or so it seemed.
When the body warns and the soul feels it
During the exercises, I began to sweat in an unusual way.
It wasn’t normal tiredness.
It wasn’t expected effort.
Suddenly, a strong burning sensation in my chest.
Something was wrong.
I called my daughter, who was in another area, and said as clearly as I could at that moment:
“Let’s go… Dad is having a heart attack.”
They were simple words, but they carried a certainty that did not come from fear —
it came from God’s warning.
The diagnosis that changes everything
I was taken to the hospital.
After the exams, the doctor confirmed it: a heart attack.
With tears in his eyes, he told me something I will never forget:
“I can’t do anything more for you here.
I’m transferring you immediately to the Heart Institute.”
At that moment, I knew:
the worst day of my life had arrived.
The evil day reveals where our strength truly is
Proverbs 24:10 had never made so much sense:
“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”
The verse does not say that the evil day creates weakness.
It reveals it.
It reveals:
-
Where our trust really is
-
How deep our faith truly goes
-
Whether we live by appearance or by conviction
-
Whether our foundation is on the rock or on the sand
On the evil day, there is no room for pretending.
Only what was built before remains standing.
What I learned in that moment
I learned that:
-
Health cannot be neglected
-
Physical strength has limits
-
Life is fragile
-
And control was never truly in our hands
But I also learned something powerful:
God remains sovereign, even on the worst day.
And God?
You may be wondering:
👉 “And what did God do?”
👉 “How does this story continue?”
I can tell you one thing:
it was not the end.
The evil day arrived, but it did not have the final word.
God was present in every decision, every person, and every door that opened at exactly the right time.
A question for you
And you?
If today were your evil day:
-
Would your faith still be standing?
-
Would your soul be prepared?
-
Would your trust remain in God?
There is still time.
The evil day cannot always be avoided —
but preparation is a daily choice.
