**Are You Superstitious? 7 Biblical Attitudes to Start the Year with Faith and Purpose**

Do you jump over seven waves?

Do you wear special clothes to welcome the new year?

Enough of that.

There is a far more powerful, safe, and transformative way to begin a new year — a path based on faith, the Word, and the presence of God.

Superstition does not change destinies. God does.

So, before repeating empty rituals, follow these 7 spiritual attitudes that truly make a difference.

1. End the year praying with thanksgiving

No matter how difficult the year has been, you made it through.
If you are still here, it is because God sustained you.

“Give thanks in all circumstances.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Gratitude honors God and closes seasons with spiritual maturity.
Do not focus only on what was missing — give thanks for what was preserved.

2. Start the new year by blessing it with your words

The Bible is clear:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)

Declare life, hope, provision, healing, and direction.
Do not curse your year with words of fear or defeat. Prophesy what you believe.

3. Make commitments to bless others — and the work of God

Do not begin the year thinking only about receiving.
Choose to be an answer in someone else’s life.

“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer.” (Proverbs 11:24)

When you invest in the Kingdom, God takes care of what belongs to you.

4. Honor your father, your mother, and God

Honor produces longevity and blessing.

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long.” (Exodus 20:12)

To honor does not mean to agree with everything — it means to recognize principles.
Above all, honor God with your life.

5. Have faith to do productive things

Faith is not passivity. Faith is movement.

“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” (James 2:17)

Plan, work, study, serve.
God blesses hands that move and hearts that are available.

6. Take time to dream

Dreaming is not wasting time — it is aligning your heart with the future God can build.

“Your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28)

Dream with purpose. Dream with God. Dream big —
but walk with your feet on the ground and your heart in heaven.

7. Sing a song of praise to Jesus

Begin the year worshiping.

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving.” (Psalm 100:4)

Praise changes atmospheres, strengthens faith, and attracts the presence of God.
Before the noise of the world, exalt the name of Jesus.

Conclusion

Do not trust in superstitions.
Do not place your hope in empty rituals.

Seek God as you have never sought Him before.
Place your year in His hands.
Live a new season with faith, obedience, and gratitude.

Because when God is at the center, the year does not merely begin — it is born with purpose.

Final Prayer for the Turn of the Year

Lord God,
We thank You for bringing us to the end of this year.
Thank You for sustaining us, teaching us, and protecting us — even through difficult seasons.

We place the new year into Your hands.
Cleanse our hearts, renew our faith, and align our steps with Your will.

May our words release life, our actions reflect obedience,
and our lives glorify Your name.

We choose faith over fear, purpose over superstition,
and Your presence over empty rituals.

Guide us, bless us, and use us for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
